my only issue with the Maximus V Gene is the micro ATX form. i just feel like my top cfx card will not get sufficient airflow.. =\

ah. if they are two space, no problem. on my rampage gene, i can fit dual three space cards but that's getting tight.

Alright so I'm fully enjoying my core i5 but I think it's time to upgrade the cooling! I would like to go with water, but im not quite sure if i have the kit complete that I have pieced together. Let me know what you experts think!

Radiator:

XSPC EX240 2 x 120mm, Dual 120mm Low Profile Split Fin Copper Radiator - Black

Pump:

Resevoir

CPU:

Barbs:

XSPC 1/2" Black Chrome Barb Fitting with G1/4" Threads (2 Pack)

Hose:

Thermaltake V-tubler 200cm Flexible Viper Green Water Tube for Water Cooling Systems

Compression Fittings (not sure how these are used?

Posted Image
XSPC 1/2" x 3/4" Compression Fittings with G1/4" Threads (Black Chrome Finish)

Total : $260
Do i have everything i need to hit the ground running? I have the fans for the radiator already. Im completely new to this! Any input is appreciated! Thank you!

If it's just the CPU you're cooling I wouldn't bother with all those pieces. I'd just buy a ready made liquid cooler. Corsair have some REALLY good ones. Much cheaper too. I've put these in a few systems I've built and they're very very good. Just hook it up and leave it. No need to worry about leaking. No need to service them either.

I do plan on adding a GPU to the loop when i upgrade to my next video card. I will probably upgrade when Battlefield 4 comes out :) haha I did look at the Corsair kit, but I definitely do plan on adding a GPU to the loop in the very near future.

Ah OK. If you're adding to it then the Corsair is a big no no :P

To be honest, I only built liquid cooling from pieces once before and that was years ago so I'm out of the LOOP (see what I did there :P) a little.

those 'ready made' w/c things are not up to the task (beyond dedicated z68 cpu cooling). some rad area, coupled w/fans that are matched with the rad type are the ticket.
