Which Linux distro would be the best for making a server for a wepage/ftp site?

Any ideas would be wondeful... I am downloading Fedora Core 4... Do you think it will do the job?

Also I may need help setting it up to be a server if anyone can help :P... Thanks

I was told to try Ubuntu, it's based on Debian and I was told it's probably the best deal to go with.
