Windows since Windows 2000 GDI has supported RGBA
basically it means Red Green Blue Alpha
So the RGB value is based on RGB and the Alpha Value, GDI defines the Alpha Value defined by whats behind the Foreground Value.
I hope i explained that good enough.

Also before Windows Vista, the GUI has been based on bitmap graphics. Icons are forms of bitmaps, entire windows and elements are bitmaps, everything is bitmaps. Now in Vista, it seems we're moving more into vector graphics and more advanced image formats that all support transparency- and its being applied to everything. The reason we couldnt have nice looking transparent windows before was because no one really had the hardware for it. Just imagine adding an alpha channel to every element, devising a way to support that alpha channel inside and out, and on top of that make it work with hardware we didn't have. But now we do have it!

p.s. I recomment this program and believe it or not it doesn't really slow down your computer and I don't see any change in memory/page file usage, so It's safe for slower and lower ram machines ... I think I need to make a review
