How long we had the Xbox 360 now?

Only weeks after the introduction of the Xbox 360, hackers appear to have cracked their way into the software that runs the Microsoft game console.

A group called "Team PI Coder" claims to have found a way to extract the source files of Xbox 360 games as they get loaded onto the console.

The glimpse at game code represents the first move toward hacking the Microsoft device, said Steve Manzuik, a security product manager at eEye Digital Security.

Team PI Coder has posted details on several games to the Web along with an "extractor tool" that could potentially be used to copy games, according Xbox-Scene.com, an enthusiast Web site.

The copies are useless, at least for now, because further Xbox safeguards prevent playing of the copies, and the games also won't run on a PC.

In a text file describing the extracted data, Team PI Coder said that not much can be done with the files. "You can't run these dumps yet, but you will be able to sooner or later," it wrote in the note. "So the first task is done. We hope this encourages all hackers, coders and crackers out there to take up the challenge."

already there are apps out there that do part of the process, there are a few more things to hack left and then everyone will have pirate games.

Microsoft said it was impossible, that just attracts attention.

I wonder how long will it take 4 the ps3 wen it comes out. coz i read that wen u buy a ps3 game and insert it in2 the console, it wont work with other ps3 consoles. if u decided 2 let ur friend borrow ur game it wont work on his console. it only works on the first console that it has been played on. I'll try 2 get a link to dat page. unless u've already read about it.

(so I can't wait till it comes out 4 the PS3 2 come out and get hacked!)

i noticed, anything these days can be hacked, if we can make it, someone can hack it

Problem is that everything is made from humans and their is always someone cleverer than one. Thus someone will always be able to crack something that someone else has made

i agree, plus sometimes the people who makes the software sells the information on how to hack or sometihng on it, its been known to happen

So what happens when your average jane or John Doe's PS3 unit breaks down and they get it replaced ? :rolleyes:
