Kind of a strange topic to start...

Name some advantages of Betas.

i think to make sure (if its done right) that people get more choice and say in the product they recieve.

They are free and sometimes we even get something out of them! Plus it gives us something to do when we are bored.

i like using them as an evaluation, to see if i want to buy it. But most of the time they just give it to me at the end of the beta anyways

I agree with what Dave said. I used the SP2 beta for XP to determine if I would tell my employer it was the best thing since sliced bread. I always gave all my SP2 beta builds to my companies IT guy and when SP2 went final it was on our computers in a matter of minutes because we were able to make a previous decision to use it.

Not only do betas help the developers learn about their problems, but they help the tech world decided on if the updated program is a viable update solution or if they should wait for the next release.
