As reported 2 builds ago, for whatever reason, my systerm slows to beyond a crawl when the drivers for the graphics card are installed.
And now with 5381 the problem seems to remain, even though there are newer-than-5308 beta ati drivers within build 5381.
Upon installation everything drops to around 1 frame every 20 seconds...

Builds i've had this problem with :
5308
5342
5365
5381

I've tried everything imaginable... and nothing seems to work.
My system is as follows :

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
Asus A8N32-Sli Deluxe
2gb Corsair dual channel DDR (have another 2gb of mushkin which i've tried and same prob)
Sapphire Radeon X1900XTX 512mb
Using the onboard sound on this motherboard since i put the XFi in my newer rig.
Two 200gb ide drives (in partitions of 40gb), and a dvd writer

Any ideas guys?

PCI-e 'slave' card, it can be sli'd (crossfired) with a master card of the same ilk, but i don't see a reason why it on it's own would cause the problem.

i would stick with the OS supplied gpu drivers for now. it's too beta still, even though ATI is a step ahead, vista driver wise, atm.

the only os supplied drivers that work are the 'Generic VGA' ones, which kinda defeats the point, the os-supplied ati drivers has the exact same problem as the 5308 driver from ati's site.
