The stunts of Johnny Knoxville and his friends risking life, limb and good taste kicked "Jackass: Number Two" to the top spot at North American theatres over the weekend, preliminary figures showed on Sunday.
The sequel to "Jackass" is the second film spun off Knoxville's MTV reality show and on its debut weekend raked in $28.1m, estimated box office tracker Exhibitor Relations Co.
"Jet Li's Fearless" debuted in second place. The martial arts epic grossed about $10.6m.
Last week's winner, "Gridiron Gang," came in third, ahead of several debuts. The story of Los Angeles youth delinquents who took inspiration from their American football coach brought in some $9.7m.
The World War I aerial dogfight film "Flyboys" debuted in fourth place with about $6m, the box office tracker said.
