Google Talk is a lightweight Jabber-based instant messaging client with voice capabilities. Google Talk is easy and intuitive to use. All you need to make free calls is an Internet connection, a microphone, and a speaker. After you download Google Talk, sign in with your Gmail username and password. Invite your friends to download Google Talk, and once they do, you'll be able to talk or IM with them instantly.
Google Talk currently does not encrypt chats or calls. When you use Google Talk, you can choose to have your IM chats stored locally on your own computer so that you have a chat history. Google does not collect the content of instant message chats or voice conversations.
Latest Changes:
Avatars now available for users to use
Rolling over a contacts name will show their information just like in GTalk
Add/View contact buttons
Multiple chat appearances in settings. WOO HOO ? We now have themes! There are currently nine different themes to chose from so that you can dress up your chat windows a little bit
The display alerts can now be closed by clicking on the close button on them
Links in chats have no underline until you roll over them with your mouse
If you change your status while in a conversation then your new status will be displayed

Thanks for the tip. Downloaded it and it looks great! I would also consider this to be an extremely stable beta as it was released by o so perfect Google. Visually this looks neat and tidy, everything is very concise. Five out of five rating.

Yeah not right now but because its Google they will probably make a Google version. Remember they have it in for Microsoft

Not yet, still busy trying to get Earth to run under wine.... It's supposed to be possible

I used to use Google Talk but I didn't ever have any friends on there so I just gave it up.

Google talk is nice but I really don't use it, I spoke with dave once using it and the voice quality is amazing but so far as a messenger it sucks but I guess that's why it's google talk and not goole messenger
