Nah, if the hardware requirements are too low XP realises and stops install....Vista will be the same.

You could really strip an OS right down and try that but does this thing even have a CD drive above 1x or 2x speed?

This is how behind i was.

When you lot were on PC's with startmenu's i had an Acorn Archimedes, yes in the 1999 i didn't even have windows.

Then that same year i got 3.11, several pc's infact with 3.11 and i learnt that OS, had a few pc's with 3.11 that went by, i slowly got an interest in pulling them apart and putting them together.

Later i was blessed with a Laptop and a pc with 95 on. My first start menu.

From that point on i had to learn fast and by the time i got to forums i had learnt a lot!
---------------------------

ANYWAY Linoman. I had plenty of those pc's without CD drives and any that did were rarely above 1x or 2x lol.

It could be a nice footrest. And if it breaks badly enough, you can melt down the metals and get precious metals out of it. Older computers have more of it than newer ones, one reason why they were more expensive for their time.

Heheh you know what I think is so funny? Years ago when 486's were the machines (you remember guys saying "I am so damn cool I have a 486") lol. Now its almost impossible to use a 486 for anything.

Maybe 95 on my 486 can at least do something. Btw if you format a floppy in a version of Windows below XP, XP often can't read it and needs to reformat the floppies. Thus 486 would be usuless as a floppy drive formatter. hehehe

It's still cool to own a 486, because it's retro! but it's indeed useless :P
