What to use a 486 for?

Ok I have this old 486 aka 66mhz pc with 24MB Ram. 4 GB Harddisk and NO cd rom drive, anyidea what I can use it for?

It's very okay to run a LOAF server on it. Though you might wanna have a bigger hdd for it then. LOAF is Linux on a Floppy btw.

get like Redhat 5.2 running on it :) maybe you could set it up as a firewall or something?

Would work fine as a tire chalk, to keep your car from rolling down hill. :)

That is what I would do. I would set up some form of linux on it, and use it as a firewall. It takes little or nothing from a machine to run, so that old slow machine would be good.

Ahhh sounds like a plan, install linux. Btw could I have a basic server on it? Basic linux server?

Sounds like a waste of space to me :( I had one made by RM which I kept 95 on and installed loads of the old programs like Microsoft BOB. Then ofcourse I chucked it out :P

you just had to modify it was all, I liked using it to hide stuff from my brother and sister :(

Somewhere on the web, there's a site which has Win1.0 to Win3.11 for download. as well as DOS 1-7
