Computer freezes :/

I recently changed my GFX Card and it works great, but the only problem I get almost everyday is that my PC freezes up. First it freezes and then then works for 1 second and it freezes up again and sometimes I have to restart. It happens sometimes twice or 3 times a day which is so confusing specially when I'm working on important things. And yes, my card is nVidia.
I did some researches but couldn't find something that helps. Any suggestions guys? And thanks for your suggestions! <3

First, we would need your specs : motherboard, old and new VGA card, and PSU. My card was a 6600GT without a power connector, so I thought there was not enough power getting through the PCI-e bus. What about you? Does your old and new card have one? Also, it only happened to me in graphics-intensive applications such as games, no problem in normal browsing or other apps, what about you?

Thanks for your replaying, and I will give you guys more info when I get home, 'cause it's my old computer and I don't really remember. I'll edit this post as soon as I get home. :-)
Here you go guys:
Processor: AMD Athlone64 3500+
MB: Asus A8N-SLI Socket 939
GFX: Asus Geforce 9500GT 1GB
RAM: 3GB
HDD: 320GB and 750GB
I use both Vista and XP and it freezes in both when I play game and when I work on something. ... First I thought it's 'cause of my card and I even wanted to send it back but for some unknown reason I didn't.

That'd be my guess-
A power supply that is not stable will cause all sorts of mysterious problems.
but check that memory first.
i'd be looking at trying another psu in the system just to see what happens...

This is why having multiple (sometimes uncompleted...) computers is handy, you got spare parts to try out your stuff to find what is not working properly.

Nothing wrong with nvidia chips ya bollix
Have you tried reseating the GPU? It could just be loose. Also check your HDD cables to be sure they're connected right. I've had times when i'd give the PC a kick ( not intentionally of course ) and it would knock a sata cable loose. That often caused my PC to freeze.

What version of the A8n-SLI is it? Premium? Deluxe? I believe the Deluxe had issues with either the southbridge or northbridge fan causing overheating...

I neglected to mention that after the reboot my 8800 starts mixing la prima Margarita, auto-cleans my Seagate RAID of bad pr0n, and spams National City Bank with emails from Nigerian Princes. Let's see ATI do that!
