Just thought I'd ask- my son just got a Wii- and we were talking about how the PC use to get all the best games. Now he only uses it for on-line battles.

PC games and console games have coexisted for a long time and I don't think one will ever kill off the other. Some people prefer a mouse and keyboard and some complex games can't be played without them, such as RTSs, MMORPGs, and some FPSs. Personally, I prefer being able to sit back and relax with my wireless PS3 controller. I've never played with a Wii before.

The Wii is waaaaay cool, but like brew said some games just can't be played without a keyboard and mouse. Unless those peripherals become a standard on consoles (which shouldn't happen) both console and PC games will continue to exist. The online argument does not stand anymore cause consoles are developping online play a lot, so PC is losing this advantage. It's a war with no winner. But that means no loser! Or 2 losers... :roadrunner:

Haven't played with a Wii, But you might ask Chriso, He's had a lot of experience playing with his friends Wii, and has enjoyed it immensely :roadrunner: (I believe his friend did too)

As far as game consoles and PC's, one thing i wish the designers would take into consideration is Left handed people. I know you can reprogram the controls, but why cant they "just ask" when loading or installing the game

Oh, and while we're on the Wii outselling others, i think parents would buy it for their kids because it involves getting off the couch and doing some kind of physical activity

Here's an article I just found that's kind of related. Apparently, Unreal Tournament 3 for PS3 will support keyboard and mouse and it will be "cross-platform."

Quote

As revealed at Sony's press conference at the E3 Media & Business Summit, Unreal Tournament 3 is coming out this year for the PC and PS3 only. It will allow cross-platform play between the two platforms, which will be greatly enhanced by the inclusion of keyboard/mouse support. Said support will also offer gamers the alternative of buying a $599 console or upgrading their PC without having to sacrifice traditional shooter controls.

You know I think what makes the Wii a success is that it doesn't try to be the ultimate home media replacement. Kind of like the first Play Station it was basically just designed to play games. There are people who do not want their game console to replace everything.

I feel that PC gaming will continue to thrive for as long as we have companies that continue to improve on current graphic cards. The best of both worlds would be to own a gaming console and a PC but not everyone can afford that
