I think that it'll be a few year before it's phased out. I still only use 32 bit. until all applications go over to 64 bit, it doesn't have much of an advantage yet. You're still running all your 32 bit applications in emulation on a 64 OS.

The sooner they understand that 64-bit is so incredibly more stable, and definitely worth it, they will tumble in droves to 64-bit. It only takes educating the masses to this which really is controlled by advertising. So blame the producers if it is slower than it should be. (This has been a blue's clue blathering-take it as you will) :storm:

Stable doesnt matter with 32 or 64 ...if theres a bug in 32 then its there in 64. Now as far as speed yes there are definate benefits to runnin 64 because of the wider memory address ability but like i said its gonna have to take a co opperative push from software, hardware, and others to get 64 mainstream

I disagree. 64-bit is more stable. Much more stable. And since XP Pro 64-bit is not the same as XP 32 it makes no sense to lump them together. For one thing XP64 is based on the 2003 server core. I have been using it for over a year. The OS has not crashed on me. I have not needed to reinstall it. "It's great!", I tell you. Really . Ya gotta try it.
Now if you are referring to other software that you install on it, chew on this, if that software is bad and messes up, compared to x32 the x64XP will more likely come out of it unscathed. I install and uninstall alot of crap just for fun. Some good, some bad. The 32-bit XP often got hung up- several reinstalls & and a few HDD wipes. With XP64 I continue in my same reckless way. It recovers, cleans up fine. I'm trying to tell you XP64 is a VERY STABLE OS !!! :headset: Really. It's not the same. :yahoo:

And that is exactly the point. It's not the OS (XP64) that is the problem. It's a damn fine OS. And hardly anybody knows about it because the producers think that they can sell alot more 32-bit because they think people are lazy and stupid. Well they are right for the most part. It doesn't have to be that way. They could choose to help people be smarter. I wonder if they realise that out of appreciation people would buy more from them. (Nah, lol)
