I was thinking if I should get this or not:

$90CA - AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 2.0GHz / 1MB Cache / Toledo / Socket 939

I own a 3500+ (2.2Ghz) single core

What are your thoughts?

pretty neat CPU imo, I'd say it's a go, though... maybe a 4200+ might even be better? It's not that much more expensive anymore

Go for it-- great price-- $90CA (about $81 US) is about $50 below what they're going for. :chriso:

lol I bought something once there, I think it was okay, but I find there's more choice and better prices (weekly specials) on NCIX.com. Though they don't sell 939's anymore... I'm running that x2 3800+, except it's manchester, so yours would be better. I paid around twice that price some 6 months ago or so, so I say go for it ! There was a noticeable increase in performance from a 3000+, so from your 3500+ it should be good too.

Personnally, I'm shopping for either a fx-60 or opteron 185, the two most powerful cpu's for the 939 socket. The thing is...those things still cost a whole lot of money dude ! Anyway, if someone could give me any input about what are the differences between the two chips and/or which one would be better for 24/7 folding and gaming, I'd really appreciate it. I know the multiplier is unlocked on the fx-60, but is there anything else ?

Anyway, good choice there godless !

Well- I always use Newegg myself-- usually only 1 day delivery from where I am, but the sales tax sucks.
