The music industry could be facing a crisis because of the amount of young people still illegally downloading from the internet, a report has warned.
The report by Jupiter Research suggests European consumers who download music from illegal file-sharing websites outnumber those using legal services.
It says illegal networks are used three times as much as legal ones.
It also warns that file-sharers, particularly young people, have little concept of music as a paid commodity.
The UK music industry has been cracking down on illegal file-sharing.
The BPI recently stepped up its campaign by launching 65 new legal cases against those it accuses of large-scale file-sharing.

The music industry waited too long to act on this, if they had of come in earlier with cheaper offers and means to make buying a cd an advantage, then it would of worked...Kids, Adults alike have had all this time to find programs and sites that provide illegal stuff...why buy now...we get into habits!

I'm addicted to downloading, but I like to purchase things too, It's just whether it appeals to mae as worth the ammount they are asking... cds around here can be pricey, why pay $25 when I can spend 25 minutes d/ling!!!
