I'm not starting a poll on this, but wanting your thoughts instead.

At first, i thought that we should bail them out, after all, it is our backbone in manufacturing. But after thinking about the greed the auto industry has shown toward the consumer, I have no sympathy for them. Let them file chapter 11 and maybe smarten up a bit. The cost of a good reliable car doesn't have to start at $32,000. I never walked onto a car lot where the salesman wanted to work to get me the best price. I never had the service manager fight for me to get something fixed under warranty. I have never had an American car run as good as my Toyota

BTW, and Interesting Read

I too do not think bailing out them would be good for us. As well as the price there is the fact they are building cars that the public does not want, thus are not buying yet they do not get with the program and build reliable fuel efficient cars that look good and are affordable.
If the big three wanted to they could build cars that got much better mileage and roomy and looked good, cuz lets face it everyone really does want a showy car its human nature.

This hits pretty close to home and has been a big part of most of my days lately. Here's a letter I sent to Tim Higgins, the Automotive reporter for the Detroit Free Press, after I read this.

i agree. not bailing them out. American cars are garbage i feel. My parents own a new oldsmobile, and a chevy, and they are less reliable then my 1994 honda civic. the 04' cavalier already blew a motor!
