Hi Everybody,
This is the October update for DirectX 9.0c. Use the web installer to scan your DirectX install to get the latest version. When the option is presented, select "Run". The installer will then scan your DirextX and update any files that have changed. My update the time was 2.8 MB so there have been some changes. Normally the update is a few KBs. Your download may be greater depending on when you last updated your DirectX. Enjoy...talker. :smoke:

Hi Camaro,
What the Web Installer does is to scan your DirectX install and anything that has been updated since the last time you updated will be caught up. If it has been a while since you updated, the download could be up in the MBs. The update usually come down every other month and I try to post them as soon as MS lets me know...talker. :smoke:

Thanks Talker, but I ment in functionalality, is there anything about the update that makes it work better? I am just thinking its alittle more that I dont need.

Hi Camaro,
Sorry I misunderstood your question. I would think that there would be some improvement in functionality with the updates. If in nothing else, stability and smoothness of performance. My update this time was 2.8 MB which is about 5% the size of the entire package. With that much updating I would think that there would be some performance benefit. However, not being a gamer, DirectX is something that really doesn't come into play on my system too much. I wish I had thought to check the file list in DXDiag and saved a copy to compare to the latest files. That way we could have seen any files that had been updated. Oh well, a lesson learned that I will remember next time...talker. :smoke:

According to Kompare (a comparing program which can compare texts) the files are identical...

So, there IS NO CHANGE

Maybe the only change is making some files work more efficiently, but not actually changing a thing, thus a new version overall, but no new file version?
