I picked up a DFI LANPARTY UT NF590 SLI-M2R/G for cheap ($125 with a friends dis.) and have a couple sticks of GeIL DDR2 1000 RAM (2 X 1G).
The specs for the board indicate that it will support upto DDR2 800.
My question is, will the DDR2 1000 work?
I know that people have OC'd DDR2 800 to over 1200 with this board.
I'm assuming that it's just like DDR 500 and I simply need to up the settings to make it run at the faster speed.
Anyone?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

That's what I was hoping ... I got the RAM from a scavenged pile of parts at my friends house.
So, worst case, it was free.

I'm gonna put it in there with that 6000+ that I picked up with the price drop.
So now, I just need to find a good read on OC'ing DDR2.
............. I'm good with DDR, but haven't read up on the differences ......
Anyone got a good link?
Or a simple explanation of the difference? I've OC'd DDR plenty.
I know it's all in what the RAM speed is tied to ~ FSB vs. ??
Is there a RAM multi?
......K I also need to dig around in the DFI BIOS. There's waaaaaaaaaaay more in there than ASUS ever included.
I think.

I don't know about Asus, but my 2 years old MSI RS480M2-IL had so little options it made it look like it had no BIOS at all compared to my DFI Infinity nF4 SLi. Can't even imagine a Lanparty board.

I've been looking at some threads on their BIOS ...
With a little luck, I'll either find a good map or a reasonable translator!
It looks to provide a good mix of ~ ~ all into one!
But I do like to have options!
And it'll have 'em.
