Man, I am a happy camper ATM! It just works, including power management (Turbo active!), NVMe storage/boot, etc., all in a G5 case! I still have the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card to install, along with some cable management, but I just wanted to share the success of a personal project that I have wanted to do for quite awhile. EFI folder available upon request.

Finally figured out how to get Mojave on it. the High Sierra install did not need the FakeSMC kext, but apparently Mojave does, so by placing it in the EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other folder, everything just about went smoothly during the upgrade. I did have to unplug/replug the main monitor as I couldn't see the update progressing. Very happy so far. I am purposely avoiding Catalina and pretty sure Big Sur, as they are so locked down it ruins the fun...

Thanks Dave! For it's age it did best the macBook Pro M-1/mac Mini in multi core Cinebench, but in single core the M-1 beat the stuffing out of the ol' Ivy Bridge rig. I haven't booted to the AMD Ryzen/opencore/Big Sur system in months...I was thinking, since I don't watch that much TV, I could use the LG OLED TV for a computer monitor...my vision is what it is at my age...

I saw that. I really hope that MS get Windows OS to be more homogenous in its presentation, but with their exclusion of a ton of cpu for Win11...you can still load the latest macOS on the old Ivy Bridge and the like. I know MS has to figure out how to be more secure, in which mac kinda has an upper hand in at the moment.

Finally...finally have a successful OpenCore/Big Sur install on this system! I gave up on OpenCore on this box because after many days of trying, I assumed it wasn't possible (several OpenCore promoting sites said it was impossible to get OpenCore to work on this dual socket system...), but after a bit of an online search, I found mention of a Ukrainian based site that said they could do it for a small fee. Hackintosh Expert: https://hackintosh.expert/ worked a miracle! After contacting Stanislau, I was given a link to go to to connect with Denis, who then went about creating a custom OpenCore boot loader for the system. It works. I really love Big Sur, and having the old project box booting to the OpenCore/Big Sur combo is quite a delight.
