Dear Tony,

We need your expertise!

We have a new beta version of Messenger that we would like you to be among the very first to try out. You have proven yourself to be a real expert when it comes to betas, and we need your opinion on what we can do to make this new version of Messenger even better.

This new version is called Windows LiveTM Messenger. It's as fun and reliable as the Messenger you already know, and you lets you keep the contact list and other personal stuff you've got stored in Messenger. Plus, this new version has a fresh new look and feel, and lets you do things you've never done with Messenger before, like:

Make domestic and international PC-to-telephone calls at incredibly low rates (you'll need to sign up with a Microsoft Partner, but you can do this in seconds, right in the Messenger interface.)
Drop documents into special folders that you and your contact can access even when one of you is off-line
To get started:

Click the button below to go to http://connect.microsoft.com and sign in with your Passport credentials (your Hotmail or MSN e-mail address and password).
Click on the Invitations link in the left hand navigation.
Enter the following ID ************** into the box and click Go.
Read the information and any instructions found on the welcome page

And in case you were wondering about the new name, Windows Live Messenger is part of a new family of services from Microsoft® that includes Windows Live Mail (now a simpler, safer, faster mail), and Live.com (a new personalized homepage experience), to name just a few.

Thanks, and we hope to hear from you soon.

The Windows Live Messenger team

From what i read we will be able to invite frineds to download the messegner beta, but they wont have access to connect but can use the messenger

Messenger live beta 8. I also noticed this:

Quote

I sent an invite to a friend, but they never got it. What are my options?
Sometimes there are glitches with sending invites. The invites may get sent to the junk mail folder, have your friend check his/her junk mail. If there is still no invite you may contact XXX@XXX for support.

Will the friends that I invite be a part of the same beta that I am in?
Yes and No. They will be using the same version of Messenger 8.0 as you and you will be able to use all of the great Messenger 8.0 features with them. The main difference is that you have access to Connect and all of the feedback mechanisms such as the bug form, test scenarios and newsgroups. The friends that you invite will have access to www.xxx.xxx but not to Connect.

So it looks like we can invite friends and active members

lol I like the emotes :)

I might suggest this guy named ShadowFox, nice guy, into betas and stuff I hear he's an active member on x64bit.net and just got a new job... I think a new beta would be right up his alley, I believe his e-mail address is beyond_recognition<AT>msn<DOT>com :(

OK!! done deal! just sit tight till we get more information. I think when its open to us, thats where we invite folks. I would invite KW13, but i know he wouldn't be interested in this kinda stuff! :)
