The MSI NX 8800GTS 512MB G92 has sufficiently high frequencies to bring down 8800 Ultra on every actually playable resolution and settings.

G92 > all older Nvidia chips

Of course, the 9000 series stuff will probably come out about 2 weeks after I get my next card.

Then again, that's one of the reasons I'm going to go with a EVGA: for the step-up program.

Oh yeah!

Hopefully my friend will change his 8800gts 640mb (E-VGA, esact same as me) some time this year and I'll get to buy it from him for cheap and SLi the hell out of those cards. :storm: I would be good for some more time... Although for this to be really useful I'd need to upgrade mobo, cpu and psu... oh and ram...

As a relatively new 8800GTX owner and, day in and day out, a pretty f'n angry person, this G92 thing has me seeing red. I feel like DDoS'ing www.puppies.com.

P.S. Anyone wanna buy an MSI 8800GTX?

Anyhow, :roadrunner:, so what's the deal with the PCI Express 2.0 anyhow? I know you can still use a 2.0 card in a 1.1 slot, but is there a performance increase at this point in time when using a 2.0 in a 2.0 slot, or is that more of a "stuff to be utilized in future technology" type thing?

Also, anyone think my gaming will be bogged down by my single core CPU even though my memory bandwidth, single core cpu performance, and graphics card will all be rockin? I just haven't encountered much of a need for dual core in gaming yet. Am I wrong?

In my case, considering my video card and my not-top-but-not-so-bad ram, when I'm having slowdowns in some games (read Crysis) I think it's due in major part to my cpu. Then again, even if it's OC'ed high, it's a low-end dual-core. Some single cores might (and probably will) perform better. Couldn't say about yours though, what is it again?
