That’s my take, but you can form your own opinion. Starting today, August 27, at 3 p.m. EST, Internet Explorer (IE) 8 Beta 2 became available for download by anyone who wants to give it a whirl.

images/news/ie.jpgMozilla did its best to throw a spoiler into Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (IE) 8 Beta 2 launch on Wednesday. But the new Ubiquity add-in for Firefox doesn’t sound all that different from what Microsoft is doing with the version of its browser due to ship in November.

I'd probably say to look out for a WGA checkpoint. Not sure though

I am writing this on IE8 Beta 2. There was no WGA or authentication/validation at all. But remember, it is a Beta so the passing out of the browser to as many Guinea Pigs as possible seems normal for Redmond. So far, the only issue is my home page which has been a presonalized MSN page called My MSN. I have used this homepage for manys years but it will not render in IE8. The entire page is just text, no graphics at all or even colors. However, there was a new MSN homepage and amazingly it renders perfectly. Go figure....
There ia a compatiblilty option that may allow the page to render as it did in Beta 1. But I want it to work as it is to see what it can offer.
Anyway, I will keep a watch and see if there are any more surprises...Bill.

Wow, definitely not good when a MS page won't even render in a MS product
