thats pretty cool, except it wont be able to power desktop pcs tho, but i like the idea of recharging notebooks

Yeah it is a pretty cool Idea about the notebooks but I bet everything will heat up and they'll make it powerful enough for desktops if all goes well.

might mean that companies will have to install better cabling, and cooling systems, im not sure how that will work...we would need new NIC's in laptops to utalize it tho, but i thinks its not a bad idea

Im gonna research into it some.

You cant charge the notebook battery with only 15 or 30 watts if the laptop is switched on, in general a laptop uses between 80 and 150 watts so if its on youd need to power the laptop and have power left over to charge the LION battery wich takes about 30 watts.

But it is a great idea to power Ethernet connected devices, its infact an excellent idea, IP phones would benefit from this hugely.
there is just 1 problem i see here, the natural order of ethernet is to daisy chain stuff, for example if you have several floors of IP phones in offices, aswel las the computers and print servers, usualy you connect each floor with 1 cable.

you would need to structure the network for power balance, it would be just yet another complication when creating networks, just yet another headache

For example, you wouldn't be able to just add a switch at the end of a network tail to addon another pc and a couple of phones, becoz you'd run out of PoE power, you would haveto run another cable from the beginning.

well firstly thats impossible even for an entire fibre optic bundle

And even more so if your going to need to run electrons over the cable since that needs a solid cable which has less bandwidth than Optic Bundles.

Anyone heard of digital paper. It's actually out already, it is like a sheet of metallic paper, and the whole bible would fit into the size of a pinpoint on the paper.
