well, in my quest to find a distro that recognized my auzentech audio card, i rummaged around until i found out that many had luck with fedora 6 and the oss drivers... this, i thought, is great news, as i had already tried fedora, and now that i had automatix to install the nvidia gpu driver (which i could never get installed otherwise), all seemed good to go. after a three hour download and the regular install, i arrive at a prompt: this didn't happen last time...so i type in my name and pass...then another prompt: "mo@localhost" blink blink blink...WTF? after 5 restarts and nothing, a reformat of the partition. WTF? i am NOT going to toss my audio card to be 1337. not gonna happen.
too much trouble to arrive at a less functional OS... :offtopic:

Dude, wait a few more months. Then Fedora 7 will be out, maybe you will have better luck with it.
