Hello, first let me welcome you to the site. We hope you will stay and always enjoy new members.

I would like to respectfully request that you new members (regardless of your intentions) obsevrve post dates and relevance to the topic at hand ( a little off topic is okay, but not in excess).

I know many of you are here for the Vista build, which is okay also. It is our hope that through this "treat" you will join this comunity and be an active part of it. Seriously, how hard is it to get 10 posts and have people join? You do not need to troll or dig up old threads.

Those of you that do this know who you are. However, on a positive note, I am happy to see you all. Thnx for joining, enjoy the site, and observe forum rules. We can ask no more of you.

Working with you,
The staff at x64bit.net

RedInferno, thank you for the welcome and offer of support :)
is it possible to lock the older topics after a certian amount
of inactivity or relevance? i see this "old topic mining" for post
count all to often. i think the idea of archived threads for research
purposes would kind of keep things a bit more fresh, and keep clutter
down. my two cents :P

That is not a bad idea...however, it is virtually impossible to lock older topics, it would be too tedious.

Therefore, I made this post :)

You are doing great m.oreilley, keep it up. I am not referring to you :)

If you have the ability to muti-mod or are an admin, there is a way to find all threads with no posts since 'x' date, and then close them. I'll play around on my board (since we need to do some cleanup anyways) and let you know the exact steps.

Lol ok guys...ok..the thing is that people need to LEARN when a topic is old, we can do some the things mentioned here but at the min we don't have many topics REALLY so we need all we have.

IF we make it big like we are planning on then all the above may come in use.

Thanks :P

Personal Opionion Alert.

I don't think we need to close old topics. We need to keep every topic up for discussion to keep our diverse range of conversation open. There is no need to go to the communist way of saying I don't like this topic because it's too old and we need to close it.

I totally agree. What may be old news to us, may be new information to someone else or they may even have further questions on it. I think this is what our community is about, answering questions for newcomers by pros who have already experienced it.

I encourage members to post in older topics if thier qustions still have not been answered, its better than starting a new topic about an old subject!
