images/news/windows.jpgIf you think you know what to expect from Windows 8, just wait till you get your hands on it.

The new OS has more than its share of rough edges, and the new “modern shell” is disorienting—at least initially. And Windows boss Steven Sinofsky took great pains to stress that this is not a launch but rather the initial availability of the platform for developers. Still, after a few hours of increasingly addictive hands-on experience, I am convinced that this new release will indeed be a very big deal.

By the way...

Starting at 8PM today, Seattle time, you can download all of the code that attendees at BUILD received.
This includes 32 or 64 bit x86 builds, w/ or w/o dev tools. The releases also include a suite of sample/SDK applications and the SDK.

Got it
:)
Thanks...

I installed it on a seperate drive so all I have to do is push F8 and choose the drive to boot from.

:eniparadoxgma: Windows 8 will take me longer to get use to than 7 since I don't use a phone much.

But it relly looks cool- now I have to start planning on getting a touch screen!!! :cc_surrender:

after turning off that awful metro gui...it's pretty fast! i don't think i'd like a touch screen, as i'd most likely keep knocking it over. it took my win7 audio drivers, and had my raid drivers already. installed winrar. the gui is sharper and seems more responsive. i forgot i need to use the admin account, to be rid of the annoying popups whenever i want to install or open up an app.

Go easy with it, remember, it's a "pre beta" meaing it's an alpha build, so you may see some crashes :eniparadoxgma:

Windows 7 has touch screen capability.
Most of us here have been using 7 for a couple years. Three if you count the betas.

This version of windows 8 is a very early release. It will go through many iterations(betas) before being officially released in its final form next year.

Just have fun with it and learn it well. You'll be way ahead of the game when most people see it for the first time.
