Any recs. for a good movie to watch? Just finished watching 3 today (lol, not a couch potato, doctor's orders) and they were really good. Hurt Locker, In Bruges (2nd time watching it) and More Than a Game.

For cheap thrills I have Ong Bak to watch tomorrow. Already seen it but HolyChit, Muay Thai on that scale is Aush-Um!!. I'm looking for a second flick that's new to me. Is Atonement worth the time? That's one option. I have two others---Sherlock Holmes with R.D. Jr. or 'Education' with Carey Mulligan. <--dloaded that last one because I generally like British cinema, the actress is nominated for an Oscar, and, imo, Mulligan is hot. Sorry for being shallow but she is up for an Oscar.

3rd and final option for a daytime movie is Apocalypto or whatever it's called. Mel Gibson's movie. Heard it was good but never saw it.

Recs?

My recommendation

BEHIND THE SUN

Quote

Golden Globe Award Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, BEHIND THE SUN is a critically acclaimed story about love, loyalty, and the choice a son must make between honoring his family and following his heart. In the brutal Brazilian badlands of 1910, two families are locked in a bloody, generations-old feud. In one family, the oldest remaining son, distressed by the prospect of death and encouraged by his younger brother -- begins to question the cycle of violence. Then a beautiful young woman crosses his path and opens his eyes to life outside his culture's rigid code of honor. Stunningly photographed and exquisitely told, this outstanding motion picture masterpiece will transport you to a vastly different place and time ... a place somewhere "behind the sun"!

Crash! Have you seen that one yet? Amazing!

Quote

Several stories interweave during two days in Los Angeles involving a collection of inter-related characters, a police detective with a drugged out mother and a thieving younger brother, two car thieves who are constantly theorizing on society and race, the white district attorney and his irritated and pampered wife, a racist white veteran cop (caring for a sick father at home) who disgusts his more idealistic younger partner, a successful Hollywood director and his wife who must deal with the racist cop, a Persian-immigrant father who buys a gun to protect his shop, a Hispanic locksmith and his young daughter who is afraid of bullets, and more.
