 yeah if I didn't have this sweet old JBL ,I would prolly get a new EVL 15" :clarky:

Not trying to get in the middle of that, lol, but I have to say that I was really skeptical of my cab years ago for guitar (2x15 Celestions) with a '69 Silverface Bandmaster Reverb head but it sounded really good. Still though, for a pedal steel, why go 15"? Not trying to blaspheme as I know how good those JBL's are but you're not afraid of bottoming out with a 15? Instead of a 1 or 2x12?

I'm not advocating either way, intellectually curious as I don't think I've ever heard a pedal steel through 15 inchers. That I know of, anyway.

hehe. banj, i think because of the softness and full range (for the instrument mentioned), these 15's do a great job. our newer 10's and 12's are not in the same league, watt per spl.

fair enough. I love pedal-steel and dobros and nationals just not sure if I've heard one through 15's so kinda curious. Looking forward to it though. Just always grew up thinking that 15's were a Bassist's game. Like i said though, I loved 'em with my Fender head.

MO, you motherscratcher you, lol. Now you got my brain going all kinds of sideways. What about a pedal-steel like Nuel's through an 80's or 90's Roland Jazz Chorus? RC-90 or RC-120? God, those amps are unreal for clean.

Off the rails, through a vintage Orange?

A Fender Twin before they went 2 channel?

I gotta go watch tv, my head is spinning with possibilities. Thx MO, you f'r. lol. :D :P

P.S. What does Jerry Douglas play through?

P.P.S. :clarky:

 the amplifier question has finally been answered. I lucked out and found an old guy in Oregon who has sold me 1 of his 2 Peavey Nashville 400's for 350$. For anyone's edification the Nashville 400 with 1 x 15" JBL D130 or a Black Widow 15 lead driver, along with older Session 400's and LTD 400's are considered, along with the Fender Steel King with 1x15" JBL to be the premier pedal steel amps :clarky:
