Are we getting carried away with technology, does the fact that we have computers in development that can pull up images from your brain, or dreams or thoughts frighten you?

Computers are faster than ever with no speed barrier in sight...

What do you think?

No, I don't think technology is moving too fast, I don't think the rest of the world is moving fast enough... Sure we may run out of materials for big LCD Screens, but if people didn't throw out every single one that had a bad pixel we'd be okay. Almost every LCD Screen has atleast ONE dead pixel somewhere. Besides the fact of people not accepting change and the older one's are reluctant to touch a computer for fear of loosing their identity or their social security number. The thing is... don't take that crap seriously. Don't put that information on the internet and you won't have a problem. The thought of computers being able to see things that I see and no one else...that's amazing, most of the time I can't remember my own dreams, I'd love to have the computer ecord them so I can re-watch them. It's all about accepting change, when it comes down to it I bet people we sitting around saying the same things, like "Do you think this is moving to fast", about cars, maybe about the food insutry, about the war, who knows, people worry to much, we all need to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride, because all that's going to come from this in the end is job opportunities.

why should you care ? aslong as the processor is fast enough :D

I dont think it is :D

Sometimes i dont like the methods used to advance however, to For example make the 8ms LCD and now soon the 5ms LCD is comming out they removed the number of steps the each LCD pixel can shade to.

For example 8 bits per pixel means each pixel group ( RGB - Red Green Blue ) has 24 bit color

The Latest LCD's only have 6 bits per pixel it just allows for each TF Transistor to only haveto twist the LCD in only 6 different notches so basicly the TFT can twist faster and presto ! 8ms but that only leaves us with 18 bit color per pixel.

U can see abit of dithering sometimes in the brighter colors but the darker ones u can see dithering asif your in 16bit color.

i dont so much care, its just a measure of how fast technology is moving. yes i may get a really good CPU, but then in a few weeks a good game (such as bf2) will require more than what i have therefore posing a need to upgrade AGAIN, lol. if your more of a gamer its more of an effect on you than someone who is not

I dont agree i was using an Athlon XP 2000+ Oced to 2.4ghz 400mhz fsb for almost 2 years and now an Athlon 64 3200+ Oced to FX53 and that will run anything for well into 2006 man...

First cpu cost me $220 back in 2002 and my new chip cost $320

I will admit Overclocking is the key to my Success.

Overclocking tends to damage that poor vital key to your computer though... unless you mean video card overclocking, then by god rack that sucker up :D

And just so you know clarky, not just gamers need fast, powerful computers, us programmers need a fast, reliable, powerful computer

ShadowFox - i agree, it just sorta use it as a scale, lol - i refer to a 'gaming machine' as a really good machine, but i realise there is a range of classes that use high performance systems !!! :D
