Is the 64-bit of Vista better than the 32-bit version?

I'd never know cos i can't access a 64-bit machine and i don't know anyone with one, i think it's interesting to hear.

Has anyone here tried it?

I don?t think it?s better then 32 bit.........Why chould it be better?? it?s just the same thing but for 64 bit.
Maybe there might be someone here to tell you exactly if there are differences between the systems ceause I don?t have a 64bit processor.
I want to buy one but I?m waiting for better prices.

The difference between Vista 32 and 64 bit, is just like the difference between XP and XP x64.

mmm, i thought that 64bit was faster, thinking about it Vista is planned to be better so you can't really compare XP in that scenario

Its like this.

Its better depending on what hardware you have.
Primarily Peripherals and Special Hardware like USB Cards, SCSI Cards, TV Tuners because you can only run 64bit drivers.

Most likely, it will follow the XP/XP x64 differences, in that certain applications (mainly those that use more RAM) will run faster under x64 because of the larger aounts of memory that can be addressed in one chunk. I know that Photoshop runs faster under x64 on my machine, as do many games like Doom 3, Farcry, WoW, and HL2.

The biggest pain definately seems to be the drivers... I tried XP64 and then uninstalled it because my wifi card was not supported. 'contacted Netgear about this and unbelievably they came back saying that they plainly would not support 64 bit drivers as the 64 bit xp was only a concept and far too buggy to use anyways!

..wont be buying from them again.

i haven't tried the x64 version of vista yet, though the xp version
is faster then it's 32 bit counterpart, much more stable, secure, etc.
has anyone had sucess with aeroglass in x64 vista? (ati here)

why would x64 be more secure than x86?

Actually its x86-64
and its more secure coz theirs very few x86-64 viruses out right now, but by actual nature its more secure thanks to even more advanced hardware methods in thwarting Viruses.

Vista 64bit will be faster because the cpu is able to process double the data rate compared to 32bit, but i thought that was Obvious lol.

it's based (xp x64) on the '03 server core, much more of a solid platform,
and as mentioned, not any (that i know of or have experienced) virus
threats (atm...), even with the larger memory address (DEP does
good :P ).
