the task manager reports 99% cpu usage every 15 seconds or so. it goes from 0 to 99 lol, but i'm not seeing any bad effect from this, and the graph is reporting this, not the verbose. it displays the same (99% for system idle processes, so i can't find the culprit) number for cpu usage throughout the graph's traverse.

lol no lol. the graph pegs, but the idle processes stay the same, as there is no process making it rise, as would normally be displayed. the verbose display (as you posted) is what i get, even when the cpu graph pegs 100%, so the task manager is not functioning as it should...the verbose shows what the idle processes have in reserve, not that they are using 100%...

I've read about people "trimming" Windows 7 down to where it only uses about 485mb at idle (lol).

I was just wondering if you guys also had about 1gb used at idle.

And for a pre-beta, it seems quite polished. However, I think the reason for that is that it's 95% Vista.

Any news on WinFS yet? Will it make it to Windows 7?

I actually dont' even know what that is. Is that just a different gui for the taskbar or does actually function differently? (I'll google it up right quick)

installed without a hitch, all drivers except my webcam came native, seems pretty quick, idles using 835 MB's....oops thats with FF open at the desktop it's 770 MB's idle ....so far so good now to see where the crap is hiding hehehe

my install seems more stable this time around (i've also taken the precaution of installing "vista boot pro" on my xp x64 partition, just in case things go south). if anybody gets keys (vista beta/rc ones, i have heard, might work), let me know...

And THAT'S one thing I forgot to do. If I unplug the drive it's on (it's a separate physical drive) will I still have issues with my booting my other operating system?
