WinBeta - the group who really do release pretty much all of the Beta Windows operating systems have released Beta 1 of Windows 7. Windows 7 Looks very promising so far, but I’m not going to be using it as my main OS until it is completed.

Description: Windows 7 it’s the next version of Windows for PCs, and it’s the result of working hand-in-hand with our partners and with people who use Windows in the real world every day. We’re paying particular attention to the things they’re telling us are important to them and will make their PCs work the way they want them to—things like enhanced reliability, responsiveness, and faster boot and shut-down. We’re also trying to make their everyday tasks easier, like connecting and syncing devices, browsing the web, and managing a home network.

Build 7000 seems to be allot further along than I thought it would be.

No major glitches have shown up yet.
My TV tuner works flawlessly in this version- although there is still no recording in Media center- the hesitations and out of sync sound has been fixed.
I am most impressed by the ease in which networks set up.
My print server, a headache to do in Vista, took seconds in 7.
A couple applications had to be installed using compatibility mode- but caused no problems after that.

Still waiting for 64bit 7-
hope it's as polished as the 32bit is.

Seems pretty solid based on a few minutes messing with it in VirtualBox. It didn't detect the virtual ethernet card though, which is a bit odd. Although very similar to Vista, it seems like there have been quite a few improvements. CPU and memory usage are noticeably lower for instance.

Just hit next when it asks for a key.
