The talks at CES were about Blue-Laser DVD...well actually a battle between that and HD-DVD.

Not one side wants to retreat back, both are pushing heavy toward the market with a view to becoming a firm favourite. There is no real cheaper option or anything clear at the moment. Just we know there will be a lot of confusion with people having different media types from each other.

The first Blu-ray writer for PC will be due March from Pioneer. It will work like a PC drive. Blu-ray has Sony, Pioneer, Samsung, Sony and Panasonic behind it, all of which said they'll be releasing players but no Recorders. This was what Blu-ray backers said would be the winner, an open Market recording device.

Lets watch this battle close!

Hey whats up with this to date?
I was in the market for upgrading my own home theater. ("home theater' abit of an over statement at the moment) And the sales were not leading me as a consumer to Blu-ray. Has there been little change recently?

Oh yeah, Blu-ray is for sure the high spec. format. I really hope it wins. However, right now their pricing isn't helping them. The Blu-ray players are a thousand dollars were the HD-DVD is only about $600. I am sure the PS3 will help to bring those prices down though once the machines are readily available in all the stores. I have to hand it to both formats, they are getting a lot of titles out for their formats!!

I agree christo!! I can't wait for the dual readers to come out. Until I think I am going to get the HD DVD player for the xbox360 since it is only 200 bucks. I figure I might as well be buying some next gen. hd movies since they are only five bucks more. Might as well not waste some my time and money buying dvd's which are not out of date technology. You know!!
