Well guys time has come where I am planning to upgrade my baby. First upgrade is going to increase my ram to 4GB.
Second I am not 100% if I should do it now. I am sick of my onboard Geforce 6100 and want to replace with a Geforce 8500 GT Silencer (512 MB); however I am not sure if I should rather wait until the new Direct X 10.1 cards come out.

Any ideas?

I don't know what you plan to do with your rig... For gaming you need at least a 8800GTS that's for sure. The new 8800GT is said to be pretty good to so I'd look into it. Otherwise, I'd get the 8500GT. Disabling the onboard video will take load off the CPU and RAM. The good old days of the 6600GT are gone, the 8600GT is crap, the 8500GT is a better choice if you don't plan on gaming. Of course you can always wait, but my mom always says to never do tomorrow what you can do today. :scara:

The 8800GT is selling for less than a GTS ATM and is a good buy, also beats the GTS in some performance tests/games. :scara:

Thanks for the advice guys, so far after doing research it seems that the 8500 is much cheaper than the 8800. I might just end up buying one of these puppies (8500) in december

I would wait for ATI to bring out their next set of cards. I hear they are pretty good. And they should help to drive prices down over on the Nvidia side if that is what you want.
