Sony Computer and Entertainment and Folding@Home are having a joint press announcement on the Stanford campus at 9am pacific time this morning. There will be national media there to cover the event, and so details will appear later today. We'll make our own more detailed announcement on our news page later.

Anyway, here's some discussion about this:
http://forum.folding...topic18493.html

There's still a lot of debate about how fast it really is, but Prof. Pande had this to say:

Quote

For certain WU types, the PS3 is 20x the speed of a typical PC. It's very, very fast.
I just wonder how it compares to the GPU client, which is much faster than any CPU client.

PS3 firmware v 1.60: Folding@home, background downloads, other yum extras

We know chances are you've probably got better things to read about than the PS3's next firmware, but this one proves to have some fun goodies sure to catch a few eyes. Namely, you've got that Folding@home client, as expected (did you join Team Engadget? Didya?), background downloads (finally!), Remote Play for wired 20GB PS3s -- all four of them out there -- and an onscreen keyboard รก la the Wii, except, you know, different because it's PS3. Look out for that to drop on March 22nd (in Japan, anyway), suspiciously near the Euro launch date.

Cool, the background download should of been there from day one!! What a bunch of retards!!!!

Oh well, at least they are starting to get on the ball about somethings. It will be nice to have a keyboard, there method really sucks right now!!!
