I got both x86 and x64 versions and tryed them directly from CD.

It is really a very nice OS, so i decided to dedicate some time to learn more about it. Today night i will be removing Vista from one of my machines and installing Kubuntu 6.06 in its place. Cant wait !

Installed it on my homy's system, a 400MHz 512RAM system, and it works like a charm, except it needs the cdrom to boot, how do I install GrUB? just like I do in Gentoo or does it have a nice graphical thingy for that?

Mates, i installed also and it works great ! I dont know much of linux, but it was quite easy to set everything up. I thought would be hard to set it up to work in my office network, but for my surprise i had no prob with public shares, proxy settings, excahnge server and so on...

I highly recommend this linux distribution for home and office use.

Yeah, I noticed the installation was like ten times easier then the Gentoo installation.

But I have no clue how happy my homy is with the installation...

I am having some dificulties to config my PPPOE connection at home  .
Theres an app for dial-up, but i couldnt see nothing for PPPOE.
I know there' s a command "PPPOECONF" to set it, but no luck yet.
The ethernet adapter is working correctly, and my SpreadStream 5200 is connected.

I dont know linux much, may some help me ?

Sorry... I see kubuntu works different from Gentoo... I have no clue, I'll experiment a bit and tell you the results if I get any

yes, that is odd...i have found using a router makes these issues simple,
as you have the OS deal with just the router address...

I agree with oreilly. Get a good router that can handle the PPP addressing itself. That makes your whole problem go away. Configuring a decent router isn't too hard...

I haven't found how to set up PPPOE in Kubuntu, but the router stays the best option. tell us your results!
