Im sorry but if you buy a PS3 for simply folding...your stupid. You buy a gaming machine for folding.
What does that even mean?

No I bought a ps3 for the folding, linux, some gaming, and blu ray.

Well i mean the primary reason sony released it was for a multimedia experience...IE: Gaming and Blue Ray High Def Movies.. I dont think Sony intended on it ever being used for Linux, or Folding@Home..Those are what pc's are for not game machines ya know?

Sony developed the Folding@Home client themselves and released it with a firmware upgrade. They also put an option in the PS3 menu called "Install Other OS", specifically to install Yellowdog Linux, which they helped develop.

They always intended the PS3 to have these capabilities.

I finally bought a PS3 today. I'm pissed that it doesn't come with a DVI cable though. I wonder if I can use the component dongle that came with my nVidia 7800 somehow. My TV doesn't do this thing justice.

But I'll be folding with it pretty soon! :cool2:

Sweet!

You'll probably want an HDMI to DVI cable. I've got a $10 Link Depot HDMI cable and it's just as good as a Monster Cable...

good going brew, good price. FYI dont waste your money on high end digital cables, either they work or they dont. 1's and 0's is all they carry. on the other hand, analog is a different story.

take a look HERE for PS3 cables

Thx again for the links fellas but I had to take the PS3 back. After looking at my budget for May I just couldn't justify a $600 machine right now. 'Specially cause my days of living off Ramen noodles for a month are behind me.

Bit off a bit more than I could chew. Hopefully I'll pick another up after the summer.
