well, after my daughters' "exploding psu" episode, i decided, instead of testing each component
one by one for signs of life, to build her a "new" amd socket 939 system out of my "previous upgrades"
collection of parts. i had a spare asus sli deluxe, an athlon 3500, some ocz gaming ram, decent psu,
two raptors for a raid0, and an nvidia 7800gtx to round it out. she needed a new case (the last one was a "monster", with glowing "eyes", blinking lights, etc., cool looking, but the worst ventilation of any chassis i have ever ran into...), so i thought the new mid tower from lian-li would be cool (it really is an awesome case. the pc-v600 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811112056 ). the assembly went
without issue, had the f6 floppy, system drivers, and my finger ready to hit the keyboard to enter the bios...
but nothing happend. lights, fans and drives active, but no video. couldn't shut it off with the switch. triple
checked all connections. reset the cmos several times. replaced the battery. disassembled and reassembled
everything, tried another psu, memory in different combinations, different memory...and then even the fans failed to spin up. i think the mobo had had its' day, and gave it up. an overnight shippment of a dfi ultraD
should do the trick :P thank god my daughter is a very patient (and wears headphones with metal
blaring, drowning out my "colorful" exclaimations :) ).

You can tell when your family really has confidence in you, when they stand there watching you fix their computers holding sticks with marshmallows on them :P

fantastic. the case really is cool, and after a few light windows tweaks, running quick (though she hates change, and rather than a fresh start with a transfer of data to the raid0 raptors, wants the old pata back :P ...).
