Ok heres an intersting topic, why do people spam? I mean on some boards the more posts the better but on others it doesn't. Then why do people continue to spam?

Well to answer that we need to think, what is spam?

Spam is useless information and needless posts being sent in.

How do you stop that?

People need something to talk about, the best way to cure spam is new posts and new threads and debates being added frequently, always updated and you need contact with members, make sure your friendly with them so they know what you like to discuss and you know them well.

From this a good fruitful discussion can start.

people spam thier own boards so they can go around bragging that they have loads of posts, and make them seem like they have a really good board, when really, they dont....

People spam just to get to the top of the chain being able to say "I have more posts than you" is a way for some people to get their jollies ;)

It was Security
it locked the keyboard until ctrl+alt+del was pressed

to many invalid logins would lock the last used username so to avoid this the system would to a locked keyboard, for example someone leaving a heavy book ontop of the keyboard or a cat walking over it or something.

Its still used in the latest windows server or XP if you turn off the welcome screen, its just a good idea to not have the login screen showing al lthe time but instead to lock the keyboard while no ones there to login, like the same idea behind locking your mobile phone when its in your pocket.

The original Invention of the ctrl+alt+del was a man who thought it was very annoying having to switch of your pc and back on again to restart the computer, he invented a bios extension that would warm reboot your pc by pressing ctrl+alt+del at anytime.

Microsoft later Incorporated this extension by making it instead of rebooting the system invoking the task manager and by pressing again rebooting the system or if the system was hanged pressing twice would bring up a system is busy BSOD and by pressing again to reboot the system.

He never thought his keyboard shortcut would become so famous thanks to Microsoft's early OS instability.

Actually, you were all very close. The reason for having Ctrl-Alt-Delete was because this function pauses all other processes, like keyloggers and such. Of course, keyloggers have long become more sophisticated than to be stopped by Ctrl-Alt-Delete, but the key sequence stuck.

Nvy, wasn't it a programmer who had a glitch in his program, and found out that it was actually a real bug (as in insect) that was causing the problem with his circuits?
