I have to be honest chriso, all I had on the system was Office 2007 Beta and Sharepoint Designer. I had the normal stuff like Avast but nothing really. I was more looking for the OS settings like UAC to see if it would default back. Surprisingly, everything stayed as set in the previous install. I have not made any sort of switch to use Vista in any kind of production work. I have all of the church stuff (website, bullentins, finacials, etc), financials, etc on my x64 install and I am not ready to trust all of that to Vista nor make any modifications to anything in Vista. For now, all I do is play with the OS and as I have said in other places, I am not overly impressed with Vista. Especially not enough to lay out $300 to $400 USD. We shall see...talker.

I did the same- think I'll do it again this upgrade- seems to go smoother and keeps all your modifications :cool2:

Of course- maybe there are those that like installing applications over and over again :storm:

So far, all that I can find that was reset to default during the upgrade was the visual effects. If I find anything else I'll post back...talker. :D

I must say, this is a fine build, and it looks like aside of a few apps and drivers, Vista is really shaping up quick :cool2:

Well guys, I hope you got your copy of RC2 (5744) as the download is now gone. If you follow the link, it takes you to RC1 (5600). MS said it was for a short time. I guess they meant it. Glad I got both the x86 and x64 before it went dead...talker.

I've got the x64 loaded and working. I am building an old Celeron D 2.53 Ghz for the x86. I will keep things posted as I come across points of interest but I don't think I am the only one here with the RC2s. There are many here with much more savy than I have. After all, I just a poor ol boy from Alabama...talker. :smoke:

I've just finished a 5744_x86 clean install. Will now take some time to try some apps and games to see how it goes.

Did someone upgraded directly from xp ? Some issue ?
