Just looking for a decent spyware app for XP64, i am currently using Spyware Terminator, it has a residental shield, but that only works with XP32bit.

Anyone have any ideas for a decent residental shield spyware app for me:)

Also hi all new to the forum.

Many of the 32 bit versions work with x64, Windows Defender actually comes in 64 bit too, AdAware and Spybot have realtime protection abilities that work in x64, mainly a matter of what best suits your needs here, but even the 32 bit versions almost everyone, will workout fine. Welcome to the forum, good people, laid back atomoshpere, hope you enjoy yourself.

spywareblaster, i have found, really is a great free app. i notice, after enabling protection and scanning with adaware/spybot, that i have no 'beasties' wandering around my system :cc_surrender:

Yep, Windows Defender is not bad at all, frequent Updates, quite powerful..
Maybe you Remember Antispyware utility such as GIANT AS ? well.. if you do, you probably also remember that this AntiSpyware was not so bad at all...

Not so long ago Microsoft bought it, Renamed it To Windows Defender, and gave it as A Freeware for all of the Windows Users...

Soo why should you pay something for someone, for what you already paid to Microsoft.. (Believe Me, you did.. He he :cc_surrender: )

And Yes.. WELCOME TO THE X64BIT.net :friends: Website, where you feel like at "home". IMHO !

thanks for all the welcomes and the help so far guys, i'll look into the ones you advised, ythink i'm already running windows defender, i just always like having a second one running. My 32bit system hasn't been infected in over 2 years now so i know what i'm using when it comes to that, just residental shields and some other things dont work fully with 64bit. Avast is the best cross-bit anti-virus i've ever used:)

Another app that you may find you like is WinPatrol Plus...or StartupMonitor which comes in 32 and 64 capable packages.

Only gripe about WinPatrol I have is you can buy Plus if you like and not have 100% free software, the other issue is that it doesn't always register a change immediately, but then with StartupMonitor (both x86 & x64) is totally free and picks up a change instantly, so if anything inserts itself into startup you know instantly, with WinPatrol I have seen it take several minutes to register any change...so it has some room for improvement even though it is a nice app.

Also take note StartupMonitor does ONLY that, once loaded you only know it is there when it alerts you, WinPatrol you will notice more and it has many other options/features...just thought that was an important thing to know of the apps.

Spywareblaster and Spybot S&D have been staples of mine and catch nearly everything for free. Currently I am on a 3mth free trial of ESET's Security Suite. I had been using NOD32 on my 64-bit rig for a couple of years so I thought I'd give it a try. So far my spyware apps have turned up nothing. I am nearly concluding (almost) that the secuity suite is silently taking care of it. So far so good :giggle:
