First thing i ever did on a x86 PC was erase all these files that seemed useless.

My first computer was a Macintosh SE
and those sort of don't have "system files"

You had Finder and System
then fonts and some support files thats it.

So i thought wtf are these DLL files ? I deleted them, their goes Windows 3.1 ....

I had to get my mum to buy me an OS and so she got me Windows 95, and that was back in 1995 :P

So i don't know much about Windows 3.1 coz i never used it, oh well i did but only long enough to run File manager and delete all the .dll files under /system haha

So yeah its true, my first computer was a mac, i wanted a Wintel PC coz all my freinds had games for DOS and Windows not Mac.

Dr Watson is always running hidden in XP, it purpose is to monitor some of the deeper functions of XP and keep a log of Serious Errors, i believe it assists with providing information in a STOP error as-well.

I think thanks to Dr Watson enabling " Show Driver Filename in STOP Error " i have been able to troubleshoot any STOP error iv ever gotten :P

LOL, WIndows can DIAGNOSE your error, but they won't fix it for you automatically.
