yeah, i am looking for sidebar gadgets. I have found some of them, but i was told i needed to make the .zip files into .cab files with a .cab file maker then rename it to .part so it would work on the vista 5219 sidebar that was ported back to xp. Well i do not know a .cab maker which makes me not able to use the ones i have found. I was just wondering if anyone has found any that work, and also if anyone has a .cab maker. Maybe i will be of help by saying what is needed to make it, i just cant get ahold of the .cab maker to do it.

Windows has a built in cabmaker.
1) Extract your zips to a directory (x:\examplefiles\test\zipfile)
2) Click Start, Run and Type in IEXPRESS
3) Select Create New Self Direction Archive
4) Select Create Compressed File Only
5) Add all the files from x:\examplefiles\test\zipfile
6) Click Next and Browse to where you want to store the cab file.
7) Optional: Not sure if this affects it or not, but you could choose long filenames if this doesn't work the first time round.
8) Choose not to save the direction file and select finish.
9) Click start, run and type CMD
10) Enter the drive where you stored the file followed by a semicolon (x: for x:\examplefiles\test\cabfile.cab)
11) now navigate to the directory using the CD command ie in this example cd \examplefiles\test\
12) now type: ren cabfile.cab cabfile.part (replacing cabfile with your filename)
I haven't tested this but this would be the general way of converting your zip to a cab then to a part file.

I couldnt get it to work. Idk what im doing wrong, unless this method is not proven to work. It should though since it is a .cab creator.

Hello,
you can open *.part files with WinRar, not by clicking use th file/open comand.
So you can extract the whole files in an dir you like. now you can repack the whole files as *.rar files. rename the *.rar to a *.part file. That's ist.
Put the *.zip file content in a dir and repack with winrar.
wolft
