i'm lovin 8gigs as a sweet spot. 16 made OC'ing a bit more fraught with extra tweaking. if you are doing big ram drives or a bunch of virtual stuff i guess it's a good thing to have more

hello again! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Santa was wonderful this year, and dropped off this little gem. Crossfire xfx 6950's. Howev's i think my 955BE is officially bottlenecking the system. But I can't complain with 70+FPS in Battlefield 3! Take care all!

i just unlocked my shaders :)
biz, have you checked out the how-to to give it a shot (for the 6950)? i used the 'tom's' posted method, which was spotty at best (incomplete prompts, etc.), but a few beers later and badda boom!
oh, if you find an OC guide for the 6950, please post it up!

i would avoid total flashing of the 6970 bios: some cards will eat it because of the ram they have, or having the voltages and clocks that high as the new 'stock'. the shader unlock and a roll-up-your-sleeves manual OC is, i think, the best bet. i was tempted to do the whole 6970 bios, but i like my card lol!

lol, that didn't last too long. i got the itch, so i flashed up to a full 6970. after just doing shaders, and then OC'ing, i noticed the temps climbing, but just flashing straight to the full 6970 bios clocks, shaders, and voltages, all is good, and about 5C cooler, and i don't have to mess with clocking apps.

heck biz, w/two of those, i wouldn't bother, plus the extra heat produced could lead one to water cooling the lot. i'd just enjoy them :)
