lol. a waste for me. only four dimm slots (it's running fbdimms in a "gaming" rig?...), super expensive for what it is (i'm already running the seaburg chip, the lower clocked xeons run cooler/i really don't need that tall of cpus, intel direct connect is coming. think 8 core/single die/onboard mem controller. i don't want or need extra gpu slots. and while i'm running an nvidia gpu atm, i hate their chipsets, :likewinmandr2: ).

nope, no date for mainstream parts that i know of. i'm just thinking $$$ that folks will spend for that little bit more of performance, and then have the new parts come out that are way more powerful, cheaper, and need that shiny new $$$ mobo, memory, etc...lol, the same old story. this time around, i wanted to pay cash for everything. i soaked myself last time going wild with the cards. i'm trying to keep builds at two year intervals, if $$$ permits :likewinmandr2:

well, after a case of horrible G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome), i have decided to try out sas (Serial Attached Scsi) drives (on the cheap). after my dismal and miserable experience w/ scsi (the pain, the pain), and an urge to wander from the safe environs of sata, sas looked cool. i should have the controller by the end of the week (a dell perc 5i, a branded lsi card), though the drives and the backplane (actively cooled internal hot swap bay) will be here tomorrow. this will also be my introduction to 2.5" drives: yes, 10,000rpm 16meg cache 2.5" drives. i'll up some picks of the stuff as it arrives...
