Stardock Fences for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. The free application clears desktop clutter and provides consistency and organization for groups of files on the desktop. Fences allows users to literally "draw" labeled shaded areas on the desktop which become movable & resizable containers for desktop icons. These groups arrange and hide the files on the computer's desktop solving the "constant mess" problem that has plagued the desktop since its inception.

To help solve another weak point of the desktop - the mere appearance of clutter, Fences offers a novel quick-hide feature. Users can double click the desktop and all of the icons will fade out. When users double click again the icons will return. Users can pick and choose which desktop icons hide when the feature is activated.

I hardly have icons on my desktop.
I only have those I'm working with (that's all no programs, just files)
And when I'm done, I remove then from my desktop...
I like it clean, and programs?
Screw those!

I'm guessing Stardock got some inspiration from KDE4 for this.

Sounds cool but I don't have my desktop icons showing anyways and instead have them as a toolbar on the taskbar, even then only My Comp, Docs, Net Places and Recycle Bin are there...still seems useful and a cool concept that I instantly thought would be great for one person I know.

Just noticed it is limited time free...

This is pretty cool. I tried it and now gonna install it in my sisters laptop (Girls usually like this things). And here is what it looks on my PC. Snapshot 1 Snapshot2. The first one the bar appears when you put your mouse there.

Edit: It's a little bit slow and the "ERROR Window" pops up if you keep changing it/working with it.
