DDR3 RAM SPEEDS are getting a little silly, and so are their names. That didn't stop OCZ from coming out with PC3-12800 Platinum Edition parts. These little beasts are 1600MHz DDR3 running at CL7-7-7, not bad for that speed at all.

What is a little more interesting is that there is an EB, Enhanced Bandwidth, version for Asus boards. These are rated for CL7-6-6, quite fast indeed. If your mobo can handle that FSB, it means they have doubled the bandwidth and kept the latency about the same as DDR2-800.

The two parts are available in 2GB kits, two one gig sticks in a pack, and should be available now. They both come with the shiny OCZ platinum finish heat spreaders, you can have any colour you like as long as it's platinum.
