I think the main issue for Linux is that people might be too lazy to switch and make it popular enough for the alternatives to be made USEFUL!

Exactly...people are so indoctrinated with Windows they are afraid to try something new...I was afraid to try solaris a first but now I love it!

With linux, there is too much freedom, which scares ppl in case they do something wrong

Although at the moment I must be honest and tell everyone do not make the same mistake I did. Software in Linux especially KDE (even Gnome does) intergrates into ones system and its really not worth installing something that might be unstable as its almost impossible to correct it

(And of couse updated my diary)

First off I am so sorry everyone, that I have not kept this up. (Normal excuses, school cough which I start again on wednesday.) Anyways a lot has happned.
In my last post I had installed KDE 3.5 beta and it messed up my system completly. Well after that I gave up on Ubuntu (or at least I thought I did) and installed XP on my P3 again.

After not using Ubuntu for a while I really missed it, like some addiction. And I was sick of having to surf the web with apps that make it so damn secure in Windows that the PC lags. Enough of my rant, I decided to install Ubuntu 5.10 again and installed KDE 3.5 Final and guess what it messed up my machine, thus after removing 3.5 I installed 3.4.3 which works great.

After doing that I discovered that one can use different tweaked linux kernals thus instead of using the default I installed a tweaked version for my P3. All I can say is wow my machine now works better than ever. I am really happy with Ubuntu, only thing is that one can not escape from Microsoft thus my one machine has just XP installed and the other Ubuntu.

I have the best of both worlds
