images/news/vista.jpgMicrosoft has finally broken its silence on the timing of the release of the highly anticipated Windows Vista Service Pack 1, saying the software updates should be in final release in the first quarter of next year with the company shipping off a beta next month to 10,000 to 15,000 testers.

The company stressed that SP1, "is not a delivery vehicle for new features," said David Zipkin, senior product manager for Microsoft. SP1 will include OS updates strictly to fix bugs and enhance the performance, reliability, and application compatibility of Vista, he said.

Exactly how will it be less useful? I guess i dont understand the generation of beta testers that sprouted up with XP Sp2.. Service Packs dont typically include features and added content so consider yourself lucky that you even got that with XP SP2... Take into consideration hog that this will resolve a good number of issues Vista is experiencing right now since it is still wet behind the ears,

Uh, now that I read my reply again I don't really understand it. I think I got messed up between two threads. I think my reply was intended to be about the new XP service pack. Yeah, of course a service pack for Vista is certainly not a bad thing.
