I see most people are avoiding this topic, I hope its not a plague there are good things in vista, but they are buried in the steaming DRM piles Driver signing is, on the face of it, a good idea, but in reality it will not make it a safer O/S nor will it make it a more stable one, What it will do is discurage interest in porting hardware so if the hardware isnt brand new or extremly popular it more then likely will never work correctly.

No bees, no bonnets, no frothing.
I don't believe he heard the podcasts or read the scripts.
What I heard was very informative and sane.
There was both the good and the bad together.
Whatever this guy's beef is with Gibson must be of a personal and unrelated nature.
It seemed to me there was no disargeement.
No frothing. Infact one of the things I appreciated the most was when Gibson took the time to read the MS literature on this, line by line, explaining what it means. I mean that's just great stuff.

Please do yourself ('selves-to all) the favor of listening to these podcasts.

Aren't we supposed to be trying to get this board 'Microcrap Certified' or something like that?

Hmm.......I remember getting told off for something similar?

.....or does that just apply to me?

just you, scara...
:)

and really, this is regarding DRM. the whole 'MS is the target' thing is a bit off. content providers should be the focus of anti-DRM concerns, along with intel: if there were no model, there would be no "bandwagon" to jump on :o

I agree mostly Mo, the entertainment industry is the root of the problem however the branches become problematic themselves.
Microsoft could an should step up to the plate for the consumers, not against them.
The consumers will validate the decision with their buying power.

I disagree!

MS are 'forcing' the issue ON hardware and software manufacturers to comply with THEIR demands......thus affecting the content providers actions........hardware & software.

other way 'round, m8. why would MS bother? :)

i think the content providers are delaying drivers, and have delayed vista itself because of DRM.

Why would hardware manufactures need to delay drivers if there was no DRM in them?
That can not be directly atributed to entertainment industry that is a by product of them making the deal with Microsoft.
